QR CODE – ETHICAL

Welcome to your own personal
storybook, where you can see the journey, your new piece went through before
ending up in your home.

Here you can say a ‘virtual hi’ to
everyone who played a part in creating your new item.

  • Step 1

    Design and digital prototyping

The journey begins when Dilayla draws
the first sketch of the design, whereafter the design is prototyped and
perfected digitally to minimise wastage. When Dilayla is completely happy with
the digital prototype, it is sent to the atelier, where one ‘real-life’
    prototype is created.

  • Step 2

    The textile production begins

We place an order with one of the two
small Turkish textile stores we work with. We get the textiles mainly on the
availability of stock that our textile partners would have.

  • Step 3

    The labels

Our labels, including the QR label, is
designed and produced by the family-owned label-shop TAFTA. The labels are made
from 100% cotton, using OEKO-tex certified dye.

  • Step 4

The textile arrives in our atelier

Our textile arrives at the small
atelier we work with. The atelier is placed in the heart of Istanbul and owned
by Mrs. Ayse who runs it with her two employees.

Mrs. Ayse and her two co-workers print
the digital pattern and cut the textile for embroidery. Creating and sampling
digitally allows us to minimize waste and mistakes on our manufacturing.

  • Step 5

    Embroidery

The cut pieces are sent to be
embroidered at a small privately owned embroidery-place. The embroidery place
is located near the atelier to ensure a close product-network and minimal
    transport emissions.

The embroidery place is owned by Erkan
who runs it with the help of his 9 employees. We’ve been working with him since
    we launched.

  • Step 6

    The final item

The embroidered pieces arrive back at our
atelier where they are stitched together to form a complete and finalised item.
All the stitching is done by Mrs. Ayse and her two co-workers, and Dilayla is
personally present through-out the process to ensure everything runs smoothly.

  • Step 7

    Quality control

    All
the finished items undergo quality control by Dilayla, whereafter they are cleaned
and packed to be ship to our warehouse in Copenhagen, Denmark.

  • Step 8

    The final step

Lastly the products are shipped to
Denmark via lorry/road to ensure minimal transport emissions.

As Dilayla herself are based in
Istanbul, we are able to continuously visit all of our production partners both
    throughout and in between productions.

We also exclusively partner up with
vendors that pay their employees a living wage and ensure equal pay and safe
    working conditions for all.
